Flowing Vinyasa style yoga classes are among the most popular taught today. This modern style evolved from the older original form of vinyasa yoga, Ashtanaga Yoga. Come learn about the roots of these practices!
Ashtanga Yoga is quite often misunderstood and characterized as a very vigorous physically driven practice that is only appropriate for the young and already fit. Not true.
To the contrary, when practiced and taught in an authentic way, Ashtanga Yoga is a powerful systematic, thoughtful, therapeutic and modifiable tool to assist healing on all levels for people of all ages and body types. It is a practice that is meant to grow and change with you over a lifetime.
Every week Penny has people in her classes from ages 16-85 with most over 35. You will often find people in the  same class who are cross training for marathons or triathalons practicing next to those rehabbing injuries or chronic pain. Multilevel, individualized and healing. 

Join Penny as she shares the heart of this practice she fell in love with over 20 years ago. We will discuss the foundations of the Ashtanga Yoga system and HOW it was meant to be practiced followed by a carefully guided physical practice, modified to meet everyone’s needs. PENNY KUSUM CLUM holds multiple yoga certifications as well as graduate degrees in both chemical engineering & biochemistry and has been a professional educator for sixteen years. She lights up when she gets to share what has deepened her experience of her own life and has offered thousands of inspirational yoga classes, meditations and workshops since 2003 through her Kusum Institute Saco and Scarborough yoga studios. Penny’s presence, love of people, enthusiasm and diversity is what shapes her unique teachings on bringing spirit to Life… all with lightness and lots of laughter. Pam AveryWitham:
Rev. Pam AveryWitham spent the last 25 years of her adult life as a deeply devoted spiritual being, as a student, a minister, and a teacher of metaphysics. Ordained by the Fellowship of the Spirit in Lily Dale, NY in 2004 as both a Minister of Spiritual Healing and Prophecy and as a certified Metaphysician, Pam continues to follow her personal Spiritual path. She has studied and practices a variety of healing modalities such as Swedish Message, Reiki, Breath Work and Restructuring. Pam also brings her knowledge of astrology and numerology to all of her work. She has a strong belief in rituals and the role of rituals in helping others discover their personal paths, performing weddings, christenings, house blessings, right of passages of all kinds and funerals. Her desire to help others learn spiritual practices to remove emotional blocks and open themselves to the abundant creative energies of the universe prompted her to begin working professionally 10 years ago, facilitating a variety of workshops and classes in addition to her spiritual consulting practice. Pam leads a meditation group that has met weekly for the past 11 years.

Robin Ivy Payton leads you in nurturing, restful Restorative Yoga while Addie Powers Johnson, Reiki healer, circulates the room offering her unique style of reiki healing. Choose from 3 essential oil blends to wear on your skin. Oils will not impact others in the room and aromatherapy is optional. Postures will be completely comfortable, supported by bolsters and blankets, and options will always be provided to suit individual bodies. Open to deep relaxation for body and mind as you allow us to care for you.

Robin teaches a variety of yoga classes and workshops locally including Gentle Yoga on Tuesday mornings at Scarborough Yoga. Addie is a shamanic Reiki healer in the Saco/Biddeford area.

Restorative with Reiki by Robin and Addie sells out each time it’s offered. Registration in advance only. Limit of 14 participants so each will receive several minutes of attentive reiki healing.

Use the Yamuna Body Rolling® tools to enhance yoga postures. Set a solid, strong foundation,  toning and connecting the feet all the way up the body. Use the balls as supports, stretching aides, and alignment props to foster greater awareness of the body. Tone the abdominals, back core muscles, buttock, and pelvic floor. Gravity and a sedentary lifestyle can cause abdominal organs to drop into the lower abdomen, weakening it and consequently also the lower back. Lift the organs back into place, release the anterior spine and the psoas muscle, taking pressure out of the low back.
