Did you know there are over 25 muscles between your shoulders & hips? Having a strong core helps eliminate back pain. Your core is your stabilizer, it helps with balance, posture and over all better movement.
In this 60 minute class we will build strength and find that deep inner core, your power!
We will flow to warm up, then slow down to deeply stretch and lengthen muscles, strengthen your core then land blissfully in savasana.
As we all know, over time our bodies change and adapt to accommodate how they move
through the physical world. Often, repetitive physical patterns result in some undesirable
limitations caused by joint systems augmenting and muscle groups overcompensating or under
Core/Yin fusion is a practice designed to explore the connection of the body’s center line and
the relationship that integrity carries into musculoskeletal and joint systems so that we can
recognize and counteract the impact of repetitive motion strain. By spending time at the
beginning of class in a short sequence of core stabilization poses fused with breath and deep
abdominal muscle conditioning, our bodies are better able to understand the experience of
softening into a more classically led Yin based practice that intentionally reaches deep into the
connective tissues resulting in a reconditioning of fascia, ligaments and tendons. It’s like a drink
if water for your joints.
Any physical pursuit will eventually leave its imprint in your body, unfortunately these imprints
can show up as a restricted range of motion, shortening of the musculature and loss of
flexibility. Whether you’re a runner, walker, biker, swimmer, play hockey, or are constantly on
your feet or sitting as part of your career, Core/Yin fusion can help reduce the effect of repetitive
motion stress and nurture the development of flexibility in areas that tend to succumb to
tightness. Through time, this practice can help to lengthen muscles, open up the joint systems
and foster the improvement of core stabilization for healthy physical alignment, and mind/body
awareness in any activity.

This slower moving, flowing, very meditative class weaves physical poses, breath and inner awareness together to create a deeply calming experience. Observation of thoughts and physical sensation is used as a doorway to a quieter mind. Includes a deep relaxation and meditation. Meaningful and appropriate for everyone regardless of previous experience. This class is inspired by the Amrit Yoga style of Yogi Amrit Desai.

Join Kristine for this combo Yin / Yoga Nidra class as she leads you through the perfect combination of asana / postures, closing with a restorative Yoga Nidra. Begin your Yin practice by holding poses for 3-5 minutes. The stillness of the longer holds helps you to tune in and connect you to your physical body. By holding poses for 3-5 minutes, you target those deeper connective tissues and tendons, cultivating space in your body for greater mobility in your joints and enhancing flexibility.
By finding stillness in your body, you start to cultivate stillness in your breath which lends itself to stillness of the mind.

Originating in ancient China, Tai Chi is one of the most effective exercises for a healthful mind and body. Although an art with great depth of knowledge and skill, it is easy to learn and soon delivers its health benefits. It requires no special ability, equipment, or clothing and for many, it continues as a lifetime journey.
Tai Chi is a form of movement involving slow, fluid, continuous and circular motion. One of the important benefits is that it can improve your physical fitness while being non-strenuous and gentle on the joints. Many studies have shown that Tai Chi improves muscular strength, flexibility, fitness, immunity, relieves pain and improves quality of life. Staying active is one of the most important steps you can take to manage your own health and an independent lifestyle.
This eight-week, Sun Style, Tai Chi for Health class is led by Dr. Paul Lam’s Tai Chi for Health Institute board certified instructors; each session will include:
- Warm-up and cool-down exercises
- One or two movements per lesson, progressively leading to completing the six basic core movements and six advanced extension movements
- Breathing techniques
- Tai Chi principles including those relating to improving physical balance
- guided stretching
- a short meditation
Tai Chi for Health has been shown to:

- Improve mobility
- Improve psychological health

- Prevent falls
Appropriate for all levels! Extensive use of props and modifications makes this class accessible to everyone from the brand new beginner to an experienced yogi.

Simultaneously, unravel the layers of tension and restriction that have taken up residence in your fascia, tendons, and ligaments.
Each class will include all or most of these components:
- Seated meditation and breathwork
- Physical postures from the yin yoga tradition
- Optional interludes of yang-style movement
- One or more restorative postures to end the class
